1911 is the year,
When Augustine and Louise, both very dear
Take to their bikes.
The latest invention, of course

with three gears and brakes, the new iron horse.
Fast like the wind they fly like kites.
They pedal with vigor, while riding with pride
Up, over and down the mountainside.

They show off to Aunty, not very far,
and to progressive Grandma, she has a car.
Roger was watching the sisters with glee
Something so funny that's never been seen.

Sunday's fine dresses reveal
more than their ankles. This has appeal
for the menfolk standing nearby
as the ladies' careen and then defy

gravity.
What a calamity
when Augustine slips
and loses her grips

on the handlebars
when Granny drives too close in her motorcar.
Augustine slides and lands in the ditch
where the sewage is oozing, oh, no, what a switch!

The trip's joyful pleasurable delight
Is now disaster marred by plight.
Desperate, Louise is saving her sister's purse
and Augustine's shrieking, " I NEED A NURSE."
