The Little Old Man & the Frog

Ed Lewis is a retired Early Childhood Education Professor who loves adventure travel. He has explored the length of the Amazon River, lived in a cave in the Canary Island for 6 months, kayaked with Killer Whales in the San Juan Islands, and danced with the Duke of Arundel's daughter in jolly ol' England. He is a storyteller for adult and children's audiences.

There was once a little old man who went for his nightly walk along the winding path next to a small meandering stream behind his house. As was his custom he sat down on a log to watch the trout leap out of the water to snatch some delicious mosquitos. He was soon mesmerized by the serenading current as it flowed lazily past him.

Suddenly he was brought back to reality when he heard a voice seeming to command his attention. "Pick me up & kiss me!" He looked down to see a shiny green frog perched next to him on the log. "Did you say, pick me up and kiss me?" "What's wrong with you? Are you deaf? I said, Pick me up and kiss me! Hurry up, I don't have all day! Besides if you pick me up and kiss me, I will turn into the most charming and beautiful senior citizen you have ever seen and also become your most ardent lover. I will even join you at the swing and ballroom dances you attend and all eyes will be upon us. In fact, I know a few moves that I would gladly teach you so we will win that dance competition that has eluded you these past 10 years."

The little old man thought about this proposition intently for about 10 seconds, reached down to pick up the frog, and gently put her into his favorite Hawaiian shirt pocket.
"Hey! Didn't you hear me? I said I will turn into the most charming and beautiful senior citizen you have ever seen and also become your most ardent lover."

He thought about this request for about 5 seconds and replied, "I actually prefer a talking frog."

Moral: With age comes wisdom.
