Months into lockdown. Amazing heat. Trump fiddling with the post office trying to interfere with elections.

Why? See my article.

So what have I been doing?

I'm getting ready to teach a CSUS Zoom course on song writing.

I'm writing songs.

I'm cooking and eating and gaining weight.

I'm harvesting our garden. We have tomatoes and zucchini and some wonderful eggplants,

Yesterday, I made an Afghan-style lunch.

I made Borani Banjan — Afghan Eggplant With Yogurt Sauce. I grilled the eggplant, then sauted it in a sauce of picked tomatoes with garlic and spices, and topped it with a yogurt/garlic/mint sauce.

I served it with a Matar Pula - Basmati Rice cooked with peas and spices, Dal Makhani (Indian Lentils), and grill-baked pita.

That was a bunch of work —and it was well over 100 degrees outside.

What else is there to do?

I had been swimming at the YMCA, but that has been closed. Had been biking but my knees are swelling. Had been kayaking but my buddy is teaching on a regular schedule.

Well, at least I have Adele, and we can keep each other busy.

And, of yes, I have this magazine once a month. That's nice.

Thanks,
Al
